This compilation of official positions during the Three Kingdoms period draws primarily on the Table of Official Positions of the Three Kingdoms (三國職官表) by Qing scholar Hong Yisun, with references to the following authoritative works: Lü Zongli's Comprehensive Dictionary of Chinese Official Systems, Hong Wuxiong's Examination of the Shu-Han Section of the Table of Official Positions of the Three Kingdom, and Yang Chen's Compendium of the Three Kingdoms.
The translations are chosen or devised with personal discretion, but developed in consultation with the following Chinese-English translation works: Official Titles of the Han Dynasty (University of Washington), Rafe de Crespigny's A Biographical Dictionary of the Han, Michael Loewe's A Biographical Dictionary of the Qin, Former Han and Xin Periods (221 BC-AD 24), and Charles O. Hucker's A Dictionary of Official Titles in Imperial China.
